Northwest Missouri State University art students are giving back to their community while sharing the work they created throughout the year.
According to a press release, Northwest’s Department of Fine and Performing Arts will sponsor its biannual art show and sale from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday, April 19, and Friday, April 20, in the J.W. Jones Student Union, Meeting Room D. The sale will feature handmade ceramics, drawings, paintings, and prints created by Northwest art students throughout the academic year.
In conjunction with the art sale, Clay Club members will host an information table during the same hours on the second floor of the Student Union for their Coffee and Cups fundraiser.
Ceramics students and art majors have created handmade drinking vessels for the public to purchase exclusively at the event. Patrons may then use their purchase to fill with free coffee, tea or lemonade.
The Clay Club will give 40 percent of the proceeds to the Maryville Ministry Center, 10 percent to Northwest’s Pay it Forward Food Pantry and the remaining 50 percent will remain with the Clay Club to cover material costs.
