A man has been charged with second degree murder for beating his girlfriend to death in St. Joseph over the weekend.

According to a probable cause statement 46-year-old James Earl Eackles was charged with second degree murder for the death of his long-time girlfriend.

Captain Jeff Wilson said officers responded to the 2200 block of S. 15th St. around 5 p.m. Sunday to find a white 40-year-old female dead in the home

The probable cause statement said Eackles admitted to striking his girlfriend several times.

Officers found the woman with significant injuries to her face and body which resulted in her death.

Eackles and the victim have lived together for several years.

Eackles has prior convictions for DWI, drug possession and burglary.  Court documents state that he is an acknowledged drug user.

Eackles remains in police custody and is expected to be arraigned later this week.

So true and very sad. I know a person who broke into some gas stations after hours, charged with burglary..nothing else. A $75,000 bond, 180 day prison shock time and a 21 year sentence hung over his head until he successfully completed his parole. I bet this guy walks in 6 years or less…it’s honestly sickening.

I know a guy that beat a friend of mine to death with a lead pipe. He got life with no chance of parole. She tried to hide from him and the whole apartment was a blood bath. Even the inside of the closet. Let’s hope he gets the same thing happen to him. A long and slow death is to good for this guy. A real man doesn’t beat a women.

Again this is just my opinion, he beat a woman to death. He doesn’t deserve court or jail. Why should the tax payers pay for him.? Let someone do to him like he did a woman. Sorry for the womans family.

Do you really think it was appropriate to make a “joke”like this? I’ll have you know that this poor woman was a cousin of mine. It truly hurts me to know what she went through, and you want to make jokes. By posting what you did, it makes you just the same as the worthless pos who did this to her! Imagine if this had happened to your mother or sister and someone said what you did. I’m sure you wouldn’t think it was funny then! If all you have to say are mean and hurtful, keep your mouth shut, because no one wants to hear them here! Go elsewhere!

He wasn’t cool at all!!!! He has been a menace to society for some time now. People are safer now that he is off of the streets. It is sad that it had to come down to her losing her life. It is disturbing to me that anyone would think he was “cool.”
