Grundy County CourthouseGovernor Jay Nixon on Thursday appointed the former Harrison County prosecutor to the post of Grundy County Prosecuting Attorney.

The position became vacant when Carol Wetherell resigned from the Grundy County position.

R. Cristine Stallings, of Bethany, a Democrat, has been in private practice in Bethany since 1992, and has been the Bethany city attorney and prosecutor since 2003. She served as the Harrison County Prosecuting Attorney from 1995 to 1998 and from 2007 to 2010, and as an assistant child support prosecutor for Grundy, Harrison, Linn, Macon, Mercer and Putnam counties from 2001 to 2004.

“Cris Stallings has several years of experience as a prosecutor, and I am confident she will ably serve the citizens of Grundy County as their new Prosecuting Attorney,” Gov. Nixon said in the announcement.
