Kan. man with history of violent crime jailed for alleged attack on a woman

RENO COOUNTY —Law enforcement are investigating an alleged violent attack on a woman and have made an arrest.

Just before 5 p.m.,  Friday, police were dispatched to a residence in the 1300 block of North Arthur in Hutchinson for a stabbing, according to a media release from police.

First responders located a woman with life threatening injuries. The victim was transported to Hutchinson Regional Medical Center and later to a Wichita hospital where she remains in serious, but stable condition.

A suspect was identified and at approximately 3:00 a.m. on Saturday,  Joseph D. Castorena, 41, of Hutchinson, was arrested for Attempted Murder in the Second Degree, Sexual Battery, and Parole Violation.

Castorena has previous convictions for robbery. counterfeiting, aggravated battery, aiding a felon, criminal possession of firearm and for drugs, according to the Kansas Department of Corrections.
